The facts of the accident as reported by the Missouri Highway Patrol and its investigating officer CPL M.S. Belshe, claim that on July 22, 2103 at approximately 12:05 p.m. both vehicles were traveling east bound on Missouri Highway 116. A 2001 Mac Truck driven by Jodie Downs of St. Joesph, crested a hill and began to pass a 2000 New Holland Tractor driven by Jason Mink. As the semi-truck was passing the tractor, the tractor operator signals and turns the tractor onto a gravel road. At this point the semi-truck strikes the young man in the tractor. The impact caused serious damage to both vehicles. Jodie Downs was taken to Liberty Hospital by ambulance.
