Man seriously injured and young women was killed in an accident in Jefferson County

Victoria Karnes age 19, lost her life in a December 28, 2012 accident in Jefferson County.   According to the investigating officer Trooper M.M. Williams, of the Missouri Highway Patrol, on December 28, 2012 at approximately 12:45 p.m.on U.S. Highway 67 at Buckcreek Road the fatality accident occurred. According to the police report the person ultimately responsible for the accident was the late Victoria Karnes.  The Jefferson County car accident was described as a mistake in which the vehicle driven by Victoria Karnes attempted to cross the southbound lanes and travelled into the path of another vehicle.  That vehicle struck her vehicle on the driver's side.  Ms. Karnes was taken to the St. Loius County medical examiner and her passenger Jeremy Roberts was taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital via lifeflight.  He was last listed in serious condition.

Two injured and one dead in Franklin County two vehicle Accident

An accident in Franklin county leaves one woman dead and two seriously injured. Vivian Freer, and James Gray were seriously injured and Jo Gray, age 56 was killed in the terrible head-on accident.  Vivian Freer of Leslie, Missouri was transported to Mercy Hospital in Washington and James Gray of Villa Ridge, Missouri was transported to Mercy Medical in Creve Coeur after the accident. Mrs. Jo Gray was taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis but attempts to save her life were unsuccessful.  According to the investigating officer for the Missouri Highway patrol, Trooper Kordel Gibson on December 29, 2012 at approximately 11:55 pm on Route AT about .3 miles east of Route M  the accident occurred.  The Police report states that the accident took place when a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Vivian Freer crossed the center lane and struck a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer operated by the now deceased Jo Gray. The 2006 Chevy hit the 2002 Chevy head on. It is unknown at this time why Ms. Freer crossed the center line.

Terrible accident in Wright County leave young women dead

Ashlea Harper age 27, lost her life in a December 30, 2012 accident in Wright County.   According to the investigating officer Sergeant R.D. Hillhouse, of the Missouri Highway Patrol, on December 30, 2012 at approximately 2:05 am on U.S. Highway 60 just west of Norwood the fatality accident occurred. According to the police report the party ultimately responsible for the accident was the driver Christopher Fields.  The Wright County car accident was described as a hit and run.  Christopher Fields' vehicle collided with the rear of Ashlea Harper's vehicle which caused her to travel off the roadway and flip several times.  Mr. Fields then fled the scene on foot, however was arrested shortly thereafter.

Christopher Fields was transported by ambulance to the Texas County Memorial Hospital, Ms. Harper's body was transported to a funeral home in Mountain Grove, MO.

One injured in Johnson County Car accident

What a terrible way to start the new year. Jeffrey Reed, age 47 of Gardner, Kansas was injured in an accident on Interstate 35.   Only four days into the new year while driving in Johnson County Kansas the accident occurred.  It appears that the accident occured when Mr. Reed was slowing for traffic on Interstate 35 just south of Antioch Road in Merriam.  When Mr. Reed slowed down, another driver Stanley Thomas, age 57 of Olathe failed to slow his 2003 Subaru Forester.  The resulting impact caused Mr. Reed to be transported to Shawnee Mission Medical Center for treatment.  The Johnson County accident was investigated by the Kansas Highway patrol, the Police report states the facts as mentioned above.   No further information was given as to the particular nature of the accident.

Three vehicle accident on I70, leaves one lady injured

Yolonda Campbell, age 35 of Kansas City, Kansas was involved in an accident with two other drivers on January 3, 2012.  The accident left Mr. Campbell seriously injured and she was taken to KU Med for treatment.  The Wyandotte County accident was investigated by the Kansas Highway patroland they concluded that on January 3, 2012 at approximately 8:20 am on Interstate Highway 70 just east of 18th Street in Kansas City the accident occurred.  The Police report states that the accident occurred when a vehicle operated by Kyle Leir was traveling eastbound on I70 when he slowed for a semi on the shoulder.  The 2008 Honda driven by Yolonda Campbell struck the vehicle driven by Kyle Leir.    No further information was given as to the particular nature of the accident.

One vehicle accident in Chariton County leaves one dead and one seriously injured

Jessica Diehl age 34, lost her life in a December 30, 2012 accident in Chariton County.   According to the investigating officer Trooper Barry Graskewicz, of the Missouri Highway Patrol, on December 30, 2012 at approximately 2:15 am on Missouri Highway M just east of Highway Y the fatality accident occurred. According to the police report the party ultimately responsible for the accident was the driver Jessica Diehl.  A Brunswick Missouri man known as Charles Lewis was also critically injured in the accident.  The Chariton County car accident was one of many over the holiday travel period. 

The Police report states that the accident occurred as a vehicle driven by Jessica Diehl, lost control of the 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, drove off the north edge of the roadway causing the vehicle to overturn and come to rest on the top of the truck. Charles W. Lewis was transported by helicopter to the University Hospital in Columbia, the county coroner pronounced Ms. Diehl's death at the scene.

Pedestrian accident in Clay county leaves Shawnee, KS man dead

An accident in Clay county leaves one family grieving for the loss of a loved one. Christopher Barnes age 35, of Shawnee Kansas, was transported to Liberty Hospital but later passed away after a tragic accident.  According to the investigating officer, Trooper D.J. Kline, for the Missouri Highway patrol, on December 31, 2012 at approximately 3:48 pm at on Interstate 35 Southbound, the accident occurred.  The Police report states that the accident took place when Christopher Barnes, was walking behind a 2010 Chevrolet that was stationary on the side of Interstate 35.  A vehicle operated by Max Francisco of Kansas City, Missouri lost control on the ice and struck Mr. Barnes and the 2010 Chevrolet operated by Jessica Hamell. It is not known at this time why the driver failed to slow down to avoid hitting Mr. Barnes.

Jackson County Car wreck leaves young woman seriously injured

Jacqueline Lee age 23, of Kingsville, Missouri was seriously injured in a Jackson County car accident.  According to Sgt. S.A Coats, the investigating officer for the Missouri Highway Patrol on December 30, 2012 at approximately 5:06 pm on US Highway 50 (Eastbound) at Hutt Road road the accident occurred.  The Police report states that the accident occurred as a vehicle driven by Arthur Evans age 73, was driving on the wrong side of the highway, going west in the eastbound lanes.  Ms Lee was driving eastbound in the eastbound lanes in the passing lane when the vehicles had a nearly head-on collision.   Both vehicles then slid off the highway in opposite directions. The reasons as to why Mr. Evans decided to operate the vehicle on the wrong side of the highway are still unknown.  Both people were transported to local hospitals via ambulance.

Two car accident in Finney County leaves one man dead and two seriously injured

An accident in Finney county leaves one young man dead and two seriously injured.  Martin Heiman, and Robert Heiman were seriously injured and Matthew Anderson, age 27 was killed in the bad weather accident.  Martin Heiman of Hutchison, and Robert Heiman of Garden City, were both transported to St. Catherine's Hospital after the accident. Mr. Anderson was taken to St. Catherine's but attempts to save his life were unsuccessful.  According to the investigating officer for the Kansas Highway patrol, on December 25, 2012 at approximately 4:40 pm on U83 about one mile south of Garden City, Kansas the accident occurred.  The Police report states that the accident took place when a 2005 Honda Civic operated by Mathew Anderson was attempting to pass another vehicle on the bridge.  He realized he did not have enough time to pass and veered back into his lane.  When he did this he over corrected and lost control on the slick road surface of the bridge.  The 2005 Honda Civic then struck the 2007 Mercury Milan operated by Martin Heiman head on. It is unknown at this time why Mr. Anderson choose that particular spot to pass.
