In what is a strange set of circumstances a young women was killed and a man seriously injured in a Lawrence County train and vehicle collision. The accident in Lawrence county has a horrible outcome for David Birch age 38, and Katie Wiggins, age 26. According to Trooper Bryant May the
investigating officer for the Kansas Highway patrol, on December 17,
2012 at approximately 5:25 pm O'dell Street in Marionville,
Kansas the accident occurred. The
Police report states that the accident took place when a vehicle
operated
by David Birch was struck by a Burlington Northern Train as Mr. Birch crossed the train's path with his 2006 Nissan Sentra. Reasons are not known why David Birch tried to cross at that moment when red lights were apparently flashing.
