Dump Truck Accident on Interstate 35 leaves man seriously injured

Dennie Knight age 44, of Kansas City is lucky to be alive.  On January 8, 2013 at approximately 10:14 in the morning a moving construction zone was in effect on Interstate 35 just north of 75th Street in Merriam, Kansas.  Anthony McCormick, of Raymore Missouri, was driving a 2005 Sterling and failed to recognize the traffic slowing around the moving construction zone.  At some point he made an evasive maneuver to avoid an accident.  This maneuver caused his vehicle to slam into a 2011 Freightliner Dump Truck driven lawfully by Dennie Knight.

Mr. Knight sustained serious injury and was taken to KU Medical Center.  It is unknown at this time why Mr. McCormick failed to slow to the construction zone traffic.
